CANARIASZEC FOCUSES ON THE 1ST DAY ON THE TAX INCENTIVES IN THE CANARY ISLANDS IN THE AUDIOVISUAL SECTOR

The Canary Islands.– The Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) took part in the 1st Day on The Tax Incentives in the Canary Islands in the Audiovisual Sector, which took place at the Institute of Certified Public Accountants of Spain (Spanish acronym: ICJCE) in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.

The programme of the day, organised by the European University of the Canary Islands (also known as the UEC), included the interventions of several experts of the audiovisual world. The venue, which was inaugurated by the chancellor of the UEC, Cristiana de Oliveira, also included the intervention of the ZEC. Indeed, the technician and specialist of the audiovisual sector, Sabita Jagtani, focussed her conference on explaining the procedure, requirements, benefits and activities of the ZEC and its compatibility with other incentives.

The professor and director of the course on Expertise on Taxation and Tax Planning, Rubén Rodríguez spoke about Tax Compliance. The director of Investment Attraction for the Canaries of the Canary Islands Economic Development Company (Proexca), Pilar Moreno, presented the tax advantages within the audiovisual sector in the Canary Islands. The director of Tenerife Film Commission – Turismo de Tenerife, Ricardo Martínez, detailed the section regarding statistics, subsidies and practical cases of producers in Tenerife.

Around thirty people took part in the event, including auditors, tax advisors, producers and investors. The ZEC’s presentation sparked a lot of interest and many questions were raised about the attractiveness of this incentive for the development of the audiovisual industry in the Canary Islands.
