CanariasZEC PRESENTS ITS TAX ADVANTAGES TO A DELEGATION OF WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS FROM CHARTER 100 TENERIFE AND BUSINESS AND PROFESSIONAL WOMEN (BPW) SPAIN

The Canary Islands 07/02/2020The acting president and vice president of the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), Pedro Alfonso, held a working meeting today at the ZEC head office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife with Sonia García Fariña, the president of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Charter 100 Tenerife, and with a delegation of businesswomen from Business & Professional Women (BPW) Spain, headed by its president, Silvia Vigatá González.

Within the framework of the presentation, Alfonso pointed out that the women’s movement is one of overcoming and an example of their efficiency and effort. In addition, he added that in the current economic context companies that do not optimise their taxation regime lose competitiveness. The businesswomen pointed out that the objective of this meeting is to explore new business lines through the benefits of the ZEC, in addition to projecting the opportunities of the Canary Islands as a destination for investment and as a tricontinental platform with reduced taxation compared with the rest of Europe. Alfonso explained to those attending all the details about the conditions, procedures and advantages offered by a 4% tax rate on Corporate Tax compared to the general 25%, provided that the companies meet certain requirements regarding investment, job creation and economic diversification in the islands.

This meeting coincided with the previous presentation of the adhesion of the Association of Women Entrepreneurs and Professionals Charter 100 Tenerife to the International Federation of Business and Professional Women (BPW International), one of the most outstanding worldwide networks composed of women entrepreneurs and professionals, who are present in more than 100 countries on five continents. BPW International is a consultative member of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and of the Council of Europe. It is also active in the most relevant business organisations in each country it operates. BPW Spain is a member of the commissions of the Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations (CEOE) and Global Compact through its counterpart in the national territory: Pacto Mundial.
