The Canary Islands. – The president of the Canary Islands, Mr Ángel Víctor Torres, has made a commitment to help with all the arrangements and the coordination between the different administrations of the islands in order to make the filming of this Hollywood’s large production in the Canary Islands possible. Torres explained that the production company based in the Canary Islands, Surfilm, has signed an agreement to shoot a new film project this year in the Canary Islands, which is expected to be filmed in three of the islands. However, the details of said project and the duration of its production, locations, filming dates or the cast cannot be disclosed yet due to the terms of the agreement.

The purpose of the meeting with the Canarian President was to seek as much institutional support as possible in order to carry out this project, which will “possibly become one the most ambitious film productions shot in the Canary Islands up until now” said Torres, a collaboration agreement signed by the Canarian President with a film committee headed by the famous Kevin de la Noy, one of the most outstanding film producers, who is responsible for films such as Batman or Gladiator, among others.

Some highlights of the meeting.

The Canarian President considered this first meeting as “very productive”. During said meeting he highlighted, among other things, the benefits that the Canary Islands offer for the filming of international large productions. This can portray a “magnificent” image of our land abroad and definitely become a tourist attraction “but it can also generate a revenue of millions of euros for the islands,” he explained.

It is expected that the Canarian public institutions and the international production team will continue to meet over the next few days in the different islands likely to become film locations.

The Canarian president committed himself to make efforts “so that more large film productions take place in our islands in the future. For that, it is necessary that they know we have everything, we have the tax incentive and gorgeous locations, strategic spots and first-class scenic landscapes but, also, the necessary training and human and technical resources to enable large film productions like this one”, declared the president.
