“La Competencia Studios” establishes its first headquarters in the Canary Islands looking for tax attractives of the ZEC.

The president of the ZEC, Beatriz Barrera, highlighted that within the framework of this tax incentive and, of course, in the Canary Islands, audio-visual is a sector in expansion that diversifies the regional productive fabric and creates qualified jobs.

– The new seal was created in order to consolidate itself as a source of quality projects in the national, European and Latin American market without forgetting the Anglo-Saxon one.

– The first project of “La Competencia Studios” will be .MOV a series of own production which will be recorded this summer in the Canary Islands.

– “La Competencia Studios” establishes its first headquarters in the Canary Islands, looking for the tax attractives that the Canary Islands Special Zone provides, its amazing hotel infrastructure and its privileged natural enclaves which make the islands and ideal place for outdoor location.

“La Competencia Producciones” presented yesterday in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, “La Competencia Studios”, its new line of production of audio-visual contents that, from now on, will centralize all the fiction and advertising projects that the company produces.

The event was attended by the President of the Government in the Canary Islands, Fernando Clavijo, for which “La Competencia Studios” comes to generate sector and employment, to this land of “cinema”; by the Mayor of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Augusto Hidalgo, for which the establishment of the production company represents a “qualitative leap” in the filming of movies and series; also, Beatriz Barrera, president of the Canary Islands Special Zone, wanted to boost the development of the audio-visual sector in the Canary Islands archipelago.

The first project of the new seal will be “.MOV”, a thriller of eight episodes of 50 minutes duration of own production, which according to Iñigo Pérez-Tabernero, partner of “La Competencia Producciones” and of “La Competencia Studios”, “will begin to record this summer with an investment of more than 3.5 million euros”, and which cannot only be seen in Spain but it will be distributed internationally through Televisa.

“La Competencia Studios” establishes its first headquarters in the Canary Islands benefiting from all the incentives provided by the archipelago.

• The Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), counts with one of the most attractive tax incentives in Europe to the cinematographic and audio-visual production. The existence in the islands of a special tax regime, validated by the Spanish national regulation and the European one, make the film productions to benefit from the following tax credits:

• For Spanish productions it is established a deduction up to the 40% for the first million euros invested in the production, and to the 38% for the rest of the production budget, subject to a maximum deduction of 5,400,000 euros per movie.

• In addition, the international productions running in the Canary Islands will generate a maximum deduction of 4,500,000 euros, calculated as 35% of the total eligible costs incurred.

• The richness of its landscape diversity, its geographical location and its exceptional climate during the 365 of the year favours the Canary Islands to become a privileged natural spot for outdoor shooting.

• The important hotel offer make the Canary Islands one of the most important holiday destinations in the world.
