The Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) comes with the Canarian Society for Economic Development (Proexca), the Society for the Economic Development of the Canary Island (Sodecan) and the councils of Gran Canaria and Tenerife to the South Summit 2016, one of the initiatives relating to Europe aimed to show the innovation and the business opportunities in the technological sector. In this event, to be held in Madrid from 5th to 7th October, the five institutions will promote the brand Canary Islands Business Hub in the Fostering Ecosystem, a space that brings together other regions and state level entities involved in this forum.

During this two events, the ZEC has also closed an agenda of meetings with multisectoral companies attending to South Summit 2016, which has established itself as a leader event in the entrepreneurial ecosystem in Southern Europe. As reported by the organizers, the program this year, denominated The Disruptor’s Playground, will be starred by the new technologies that impact in the industries: Fintech, Fashion, Industry & NRG, Media & Entertainment, Food, Travel, EdTech, Health & Wellness.

Also, in this edition more than 250 international speakers will be involved, including some of the entrepreneurs of the most prestigious technology companies in the world, as the founder of Skype and Atomico, Niklas Zennström; the co-founder of LinkedIn, Allen Blue; the co-founder and director of Square and Launchcode, Jim Mckelvey; or the founder and CEO of Atari, Nolan Bushnell. This initiative is organized by Spain Startup, the Fundacion IE-IE Business School and Comunica+A, in collaboration with Orange, Endesa, BStartup of Banco Sabadell and Google for Entrepreneurs.
