Canary Islands.- To streamline procedures and access to information, the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) has launched its headquarters and electronic administration (https://canariaszec.sede.gob.es), which will also be available through from its institutional website: www.canariaszec.com, thus adapting to the needs of public administrations. With this, the ZEC takes a further step towards digitization, optimizing its resources in order to improve its quality, efficiency and speed in the provision of its services as corresponds to the public administrations (AAPP) in the exercise of their powers and obligations.
Through this “virtual office”, companies and investors will carry out the actions and procedures of a public nature that require authentication by electronic means thanks to the digital signature. Thus, the ZEC is closer to the investor, adapting to the needs of electronic access to public services through telecommunications. The procedures are thus streamlined.
The ownership of the electronic office will correspond to the Consortium, which is responsible for the integrity, veracity and updating of the information and services.
The application of information and communication technologies will generate many advantages, from easy access to information to carrying out procedures outside of traditional office hours. This affects in an eminently positive way and demonstrates the importance of using solutions that facilitate and simplify processes as a pillar for progress adapted to social and technological reality. In addition to fewer paperwork, this transformation process brings with it the advantages of digitization for an entity destined to attract international investment, and it represents cost savings for all parties and a general benefit in terms of the impact on the environment.
One of the government objectives is to digitize the Spanish economy over the next five years. The new strategy is called Digital Spain 2025. Among the areas that the Executive wants to promote is the Public Administration, which shows that this plan has the vocation of becoming a strategic pillar within the framework of economic recovery and, as has been indicated, the measures will be aligned with the European digital strategy and with the sustainable development goals.
