Canarias.– The Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) participated under the Canary Islands Film government promotion brand in a virtual mission of animation companies from the United Kingdom, organized by the Canary Islands Society for Economic Promotion (Proexca) in collaboration with Animation UK. de with the support of the ZEC, TENERIFE FILM COMMISSION and Gran Canaria Film Commission. Some 30 professionals have participated in the mission, among these 18 studies, 9 from the United Kingdom and 9 from the Canary Islands, with representation of their CEOs or decision makers, as well as those responsible for public institutions in the sector in both countries. The objective has been to establish collaboration networks aimed at creating businesses.
The British market and the animation sector is a strategic set for the ZEC, since in addition to its 4% Corporate Tax it facilitates the attraction of this type of companies to the Canary Islands. It should be noted that the Islands are projected for their benefits as the international hub for animation. The unique tax system of the Canary Islands allows combining this 4% tax rate in the IS, with 50-45% for investment deduction for foreign productions and national co-productions and productions, in addition to the 45% deduction for R & D & I and the zero rate IGIC (General Indirect Canary Tax).
Canarias reinforces its position with the availability of highly qualified professionals, first-rate production centers that work internationally with projects from international firms. Many of the animation companies established in the Canary Islands already operate under the acronym ZEC.
