Canary Islands.- The Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC) has held virtual B2B meetings during the celebration of the Tourismatch 2020: International matchmaking event of the tourism sector, a platform designed to establish bilateral contacts between companies, universities, research organizations, and representatives of the international public administrations with the common objective of promoting innovative solutions to strengthen the tourism sector throughout its value chain in order to be prepared for the future.
In this context, issues related to health security in tourism, solutions in information and communication technologies (ICT), sustainable tourism, circular economy, environment and energy, and transport and logistics are addressed. Tourismatch 2020 is an event organized by the Instituto Tecnológico de Canarias in collaboration with Enterprise Europe Network and that has the close support of local agents to generate new business contacts, technical cooperation and R & D & I in the sector. In this edition, Tourismatch 2020 will take place as a parallel activity to the Maspalomas International Tourism Forum, “Challenges of the tourism industry”.
It should be remembered that the ZEC is a tool aimed at the diversification of the regional productive fabric, and within this framework activities related to tourism can be developed in the Canary Islands under this regime authorized by the European Commission (EC). A sector that represents 19% of the total number of companies in the Official Register of ZEC Entities, according to data from last year.
