The ZEC at the laying of the foundation stone of INtech Tenerife headquarters

Canary Islands.- The President of the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), Jimena Delgado-Taramona, and the Vice President of the Canary Islands Special Zone (ZEC), Pedro Alfonso, attended today, Thursday 10 May, the ceremony to lay the first stone of the INtech Tenerife headquarters building, the main site of the island’s Science and Technology Park, a commitment by the Island Council to technology, entrepreneurship, research and business. The event, which was attended by a wide range of representatives from public institutions, was attended by the Presidents of the Government, Fernando Clavijo, and the Cabildo de Tenerife, Carlos Alonso, among others.

In the coming years, this space will become a reference infrastructure for housing and incubation of technological companies and business incubators. INtech Tenerife is a fundamental infrastructure for attracting innovative and technology-based companies, and the fact that the Canary Islands has among its opportunities the tax advantages of an incentive is an attractive way to advance towards the diversification of the economy of the islands and the creation of employment to attract companies from emerging sectors. Along these lines, the ZEC has been collaborating in different initiatives with the Science and Technology Park of Tenerife, together with those of other islands to attract investment to the Canary Islands with the aim of making progress in the strategy of turning the islands into a reference point for technology-based companies.

 

INtech Santa Cruz has more than 260,000 m2 for the installation of technology-based companies and entities for the execution of research, development and innovation projects, mainly in the areas of Biotechnology, Biomedicine and Health, Information and Communication Technologies and Innovation in Tourism. In a first phase, it consists of a headquarters building with a total constructed area of 6,600 m2, which has an office, assembly hall and complementary services such as a nursery, gymnasium and cafeteria and a multi-company building with 17,700 m2.
