Canary Islands.- On 16 and 17 of March Las Palmas of Gran Canaria hosts the second Oil & Gas Meeting Day in the Canaries, an initiative led by the Stier group and Saga Subsea that seeks to strengthen the positioning of the Archipelago as port hub for the offshore oil industry on the West African coast. This is the second time when the industry has met in the capital of Gran Canaria to know about the competitive advantages of the islands with respect to other locations.
The main slogan of these days of talks and networking in the sector is “Embracing the future’. Through this concept, the organizers of the event hope that companies, business associations and public administrations dialogue about the future of the oil industry and share experiences about innovation in this sector. To do this the event is sponsored by the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo (Island Council) of Gran Canaria, the Canary Islands Special Zone and the Gran Canaria Economic Promotion Company.
The first Oil & Gas Meeting Day in the Canaries was held in March 2017. It involved 96 high-level representatives from 22 different countries. The organizers hope to repeat the success this year 2018.
